Hi, I would like to ask if you guys could guide me through the setup of the sound card of my Thinkpad Yoga X1 Gen 4 on Ubuntu 20. Well, I've got a laptop here that has no sound it seems.Text to speech fucntion is not working not I don't really remeber how I fixed the video playback speed, just Sound stopped working after upgrading Ubuntu from 14.Is your Sound menu inside Ubuntu settings showing Dummy Output Device instead of Build-in Audio Device ?Don't worry give this command i Also, when I first booted the sound, each time I ran the experiment within different distros, the sound was choppy and garbled until I turned the volume up and down a couple times and it came fully ‘up-to-speed’.
$ sudo aptitude -purge reinstall linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils linux-image-`uname -r` linux-ubuntu-modules-`uname -r` libasound2. It works fine in Windows 10 and Linux Mint 17-18. I realised that this wasn't a dummy output but it was the headphone jack from my motherboard. Ubuntu sound not working dummy output All audio input should be tested.
